The Pillowman Cometh

I'm going to see a new play called The Pillowman starring...wait a minute, I thought it was starring Billy Crudup and Jeff Goldblum. Who are these Bella Donna and Brittany Morgan folk? Oh, wrong theme and plot entirely. (Hey, Unknown Broker -- how about that dude's hair?)

Here, I'm going to see a new played called The Pillowman. There. Let you know how it is manana. Peace.

In the small world department, Billy Crudup was my big brother in my fraternity at UNC. In addition, he dated my wife her freshman year at Chapel Thrill. Great guy and a lot of fun. Haven't kept in touch, but am very happy for his immense success.

I kid my wife incessantly that she could be walking the red carpet or Broadway on this stud's arm, but instead she is stuck with me.

Hmmmm, I must be spending too much time in the San Fernando Valley (aka Porn Valley), but:

The "babe-age" -- stage name Aja --is now just "age." A middle-aged mom who re-appears from time to time in the various local rags, mostly as a companion or girlfriend to b-level has beens of various types. Robert Blake, watch out!

The guy -- stage name "Peter North," how's that for corny -- is now a porn producer of some kind. Saw him interviewed on late night HBO a while back. Hair now closely cropped with some greying. Like most guys in the business, he seeks the kind of fame that only Ron Jeremy has managed to achieve, but lacks the sense of humor necessary to justify an appearance on the Daily Show.

That said, he's probably more recognized in LA than Paulie Shore...

Actually, a rather bizarre set of circumstances. An ex used to have her own photo studio. The way she was able to afford it was by leasing it out on a part time basis to other photographers and film producers. Many of her regular customers were from the porn business. Among others, many Hustler layouts were shot in her space, along with quite a few porn scenes.

A variety of "industry insiders" used to show up to her studio parties. As far as I could tell, they were pretty insular, associating mostly with others in and around their business, and of course there were lots of sad cases.

My ex gave up her studio space a couple of years ago in part because the porn business now has several full-blown sound stages of its own and her rental income was dropping off significantly.

I could get into real trouble if the current gf found out how much I know about this stuff...
