The Cody Blog: "A Way to Deal With Your Blog Trolls?"

"A Way to Deal With Your Blog Trolls?"

A friend of mine sent me this article with the comment “A way to deal with your blog trolls?”. One of those trolls, er, readers of mine gave one of their usual barrages of always-anonymous comments in three or four of my posts last night. My favorite of the night is, “ Saw you....besides your hair looking all greasy, as usual, you added nothing!”

I think I love these folks who care so much about me that they catch my appearances on TV and keep coming back to read this blog...and read my stuff from other outlets to boot....and even care so much that they help me generate traffic with their funny comments on my blog.

But I guess I could go this route:

Director takes swings at critics -- literally

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Tired of the criticism of his films, controversial German film director Uwe Boll took on four of his critics in a Vancouver boxing ring, and ended each bout with a knockout.

The director of the vampire flick "BloodRayne," based on a video game and starring Kristanna Loken and Ben Kingsley, issued a fight challenge to his critics several months ago. Fifteen responded.

"I like now the critics," Boll told a news conference after the fights on Saturday. "Everybody who was in the ring showed (guts). Nobody dived.

Hey, latest anon, got the guts to meet me in the ring? ;)

If theyre anonymous it should tell you how "COURAGEOUS" they really are.I like your blog, hell I read every single thing you write including Traders Edge. I'm not weird or anything lol but somehow this blog makes me feel like I have a friend in NY or maybe I like reading blogs because it has a "Truman Show" aspect to them? hmmm either way my wife likes reading them too. Her favorite is when you went to visit your friends back in the day. She said it had a melancholic thing to it.

I was going to say something about the anonymous critic or should I say wannabe art director. The point of Cody blog is the message. This is about timely information--at least for me, so I don't care if the shot was too wide or the lamp on your desk was too big. You got the job done! I think anomymous is someone you know who is jealous.

We are anon because we know what a whack job you are cody. And as real professionals we dont want anything to do with you.

You can pretend whatever you want, but I don't know many people who get so much hate mail. This ain't normal cody. You burn ALL your bridges. You need to grow up.

Oh and what should we be jealous of, your "hedge fund". Your fame and fortune?

You are a joker, you are nothing. You treat people like shit cody. What comes around goes around, as they say in the "business". Maybe you would know if you were part of it.

Oh and what happened to the Telccom Connection Cody? Eh? You arent fooling anyone. You still have the link in your profile. What a digital master!!!

Like a true nobody from the nowhere, you just want to pick fights.

This isnt the NCAA, cody, this is the real world, the big leagues. You aren't ready for it, you never will be.

I troll your site for one reason; you have one of the funniest blogs!!

You are so pathetic, it's amusing. I would feel sorry for you, but I know what kind of person you are and how you treat others. I have no respect or comparison for types like you. You cannot maintain any relationships because you are just a piece of work.

Take the blinders off and see yourself as you really are. You are a nobody, managing nothing. You are a journalist. You've been in NYC for 10 years and all you can say for yourself is you were a partner at CIBC Opp for a 1 month. Why'd ya leave cody? They were paying you money you obviously needed.

You are a bunch of lies, and you try to deceive people most innocent. Who's this guy working for you now, an ex football player at Wash U? At least you can't beat him up. You make me sick.

Whew Superstar! Sounds like you got an angry female on your hands. Remember what Shakespear said?

What happened honey? Did he turn you down one night because of your lack of refinement?

On second thought Superstar, Anon is definately female. For sure she knows you personally and was into you in a very big way. I would watch my back on this one. Remember "Fatal Attraction"? You must have some clue who it is.

Honey, I know you read that book. Something called, "He Is Just Not That Into YOU".

Who am I? I’m an MBA student who likes financial blogs. Codyblog is one of the many sites I like to visit, and I happen to like his take on the world. It’s that simple. At least his not trying to sell you the same contrived manufactured excrement you see on mainstream financial rags. I don’t know who you are, but you are polluting the blog. Maybe you should go to a Yahoo finance board—lots of angry people like you over there, particularly GE, SUNW, MSFT, INTL. They have plenty of colorful dialogue. If you have a beef with Willard send him an email…settle it like a man…taking your BS out into the public makes you look like a bitch who got F&&% and the guy never called back to give you a proper thank you. You have a beef with someone? Go to the source. That’s what I learned from the marines. Do you think I visit this website because I suffer from some kind of misguided worship complex? I don’t think so, pal. Don’t bring your anger here, that’s all I’m asking.

Hi, Maximo:

I read this blog because I follow (as an investor) Apple and a few other smart tech companies. In my opinion, what contributes to the success of the corporations that I like is the fact that the very best of them (like Apple) get ALL the little details right -- including the size of the lamp on the table. My comment was a sincere reaction to the clip. And I tried to give helpful advice.

The reason I remain anonymous is because I don't really want to hear from any of you (especially Maximo Zeledon!) or illicit any of your advice. If I did, I'd have my own blog and I'd expect to hear from a few "trolls." It comes with the territory.

Hahaha. You are a contradiction. I'm not giving you advice...I was trying to tell you to F&*$ off in a polite fashion. You're too boring and this has nothing to do with stock or the economy, so i won't be contributing to this stupidy.

ciao Nena!

Cody,
What is up with all this crap?
I started reading your blog because it was interesting, and you had something to say outside of the financial world that we all live in everyday. You once told a reader on this blog that you wouldn't answer financially related questions because this was your "political, and Music Blog" (I remember that), but it seems that when you are too busy, you simply post a recent RM blog.
Now I have always stuck up for you against these cheap anon comments, but I am beginning to wonder what is up with you? Why are you not on K&C anymore? I saw the one where Kudlow told a remote guest not to respond to you, and geez! I cringed with embarrassment for YOU!
The hate mail is just overwhelming,I have never seen such an outpuoring, and I have to say, I notice a lot of the old regulars no longer post comments.
I don't know you personaly, and I am not a mean person, but where there is smoke, there is fire, as the old saying goes. Increasing your readership with negative stuff like this will not last long. Only good content, and an obvious passion for what you do will keep the reader comming back.
We are not in High Scholl anymore either, and inviting people to meet you in the ring is silly. I hope to see the real Cody again, or maybe I'm seeing him now.
Rock on my friend...

Hmm,

There's a lot of unfocused angst here. Cody, I really think the video clip idea would be better with a few small improvements. I hope you'll take my comments in the spirit they were intended. I meant no disrespect.

I'm looking forward to reading more of your stuff.

Francis

PS
I know Ritholz' Blog is a financial blog, and this one is not supposed to be, but you are blurring the lines, and it looks like you are doing so for profit, something you condem Mr. Dillon for doing.
Take a look at what Ritholz does with his blog. He is actively, and passionately working at it every day. He has the serious side, and the injection of humor. he puts out the "link Fest" religiously.
Maybe you need to bring the blog back to what it used to be, or try a free financial blog, but in all honesty cody, I see you being very hipocritical trying to sell your new news letter on what you yourself describe as your "political, and music blog"
Don't lose the friends you have!
Later...
